Daily Outfit - July 5th 2009

Yesterday was my mum's birthday, happy birthday mum!

P1030018 P1030011

Plaid shirt - Dorothy Perkins
Polka dot ra-ra skirt - Dorothy Perkins
Belt - H&M
Sunnies - H&M
Headscarf - Celia Birtwell for Topshop
Watch - Marc by Marc Jacobs
Necklace - Vintage (my mum's!)
Ring - gift from my sister
Earrings - Claire's Accessories
Blue jelly shoes - JuJu at Next

I call my look land-girl-meets-gypsy-tarot-reader - I was trying out pattern clashing (plaid and polka dots, crazy stuff!), and also not washing my hair!

My mum and my sister ran 5km in the morning to raise money for Breast Cancer, while me and my dad took the more sensible approach and bought coffee and cheered them over the finish line instead!

I had some mixed news last week, my graduate job has had to be pushed back, and the upshot is I won't be starting work in September like I thought. I think I just got credit crunched, woe! It's not all bad though, I'm trying to look at it as a positive thing - I have a bit of money saved up, and three months to do anything I want after all! Trouble is I'm not quite sure what that is exactly... any suggestions welcome!

That's so irritating :( it's ridiculous how few job opportunities there are at the moment, as well as the number of wonderfully skilled and talented people who can't seem to get one!

Whenever my school's holidays are on, I usually go to my friends' schools and hang out there instead, haha. Or shopping, that's alright too. :D

Happy birthday Harriet's mum! I wish my mum were fit enough to run 5km!

And Harriet, your hair doesn't look dirty at all. I only wash mine twice a week - MAX 3 if I'm being really active/sweaty or if it's really hot - you can train your scalp to need less washing! Also, I'm sorry about the job, but I'm sure you'll find something to do in the next 3 months! Maybe an internship? :)

I have been searching and searching for a plaid shirt. I think it would look simply lovely with skinny jeans and slouchy boots. I love yours! :)

Tell your mum I said happy birthday! :)

Happy Birthday to your mum.
And congratulations to your mum and sis running the 5K.
What to do over the summer? EVERYTHING! Go shopping, relaxing picnics in the park with friends. Seriously, once you start work, getting free time will be hard to come by. So make the most of it.

Thanks for all the support and the well wishes! I am definitely intending on enjoying myself this summer, as it'll be the last time I have so much free time for a while! I think an internship is a great idea though, Leia, there's no way I can stay at home for all this time and not do *anything* - I'll go mad!

I used to wash my hair every day but I'm trying to reduce it to every other day, and maybe less. It's taking my scalp a little time to adjust though!
