Inspired by Harry Potter

This post is brought to you (hopefully!) by blogger's ability to schedule posts and my ability to work it!

No doubt everyone has seen Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince by now, and although I find the main cast's costumes quite dull (as it should be I think, Hermione was not a fashionista!) there are so many rich, beautiful, fantastic clothes props and sets, that you can't fail to be inspired by the magical world! In return, I see a lot of influence from the fashion and design world in the film!

Minerva McGonagall and Balmain

Professor McGonagall denied any interest in fashion whatsoever to anyone brave enough to ask, with a look that said 'I can turn you into a frog, and don't think I won't.' However when she just so happened to glance through the pages of a fashion magazine confiscated in class she couldn't help but admit those Balmain shoulders looked rather smart. And obviously she had an affinity for tartan, and Vivienne Westwood punk rock T-shirts, but that was only natural - after all she was Scottish, and everyone dressed like that in the 70s...

Luna Lovegood and Erin Fetherston

Luna Lovegood didn't really understand fashion, and the Quibbler didn't have any fashion pages, but on the occasion that one of the other Ravenclaw girls would be bored enough to try and talk to her she admitted she thought Erin Fetherston probably understood about the Nargles.

Lavender Brown and Luella

Lavender Brown kept her own fashion blog for almost a month one summer, until she got distracted by one of the boys who hung around the ice cream parlour with his friends and she forgot about it. For that almost month though it was filled with pictures of Betsey Johnson prom dresses, and Luella's clashing oranges and purples, which Lavender thought was just about heaven.

Narcissa Malfoy and Vivienne Westwood

Narcissa Malfoy's dressing room contained hundreds upon hundreds of sets of robes, beautiful shoes, and enough beauty potions to last her whole lifetime. Her most precious possessions however were hidden under a floorboard, and protected with the strongest confundus charms she knew. A few old pages ripped secretly from muggle fashion magazines, and carefully protected over the years.

Bellatrix Lestrange and Ann Demeulemeester

As a teenager Bellatrix like to set fire to Narcissa's new clothes, while she herself would wear the same robes (always black) until they wore away to tangled shreds. Although she'd moved on to burning bigger things, the clothes stayed the same.

Geek Out...

.Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley) is giving Emma Watson a run for her money in Grazia.
.And Evanna Lynch (Luna) is also up there in the fashion stakes.

Haha, respect for working out the post-scheduler thing, I've never tried!! And great post. I'm probably the only person in the world who hasn't seen the film and doesn't really want to either (unless someone else is paying, in which case I'll sit through it), they're just not for me at all. Loved the books, hated the films.

Still, I think you've got their fashion personalities spot on!!
