Camping for the City Girl

I can hardly believe I'm typing this, but I spent yesterday learning how to put up a tent and assemble a camping stove for my very first camping trip next week! I am not a camping girl, in fact if funds would allow I'd be a five star hotel girl all the time, but! I am absolutely determined to enjoy myself, and spent today on a shopping trip to pick up a few essentials, as I was previously woefully unprepared fashion wise for anything outdoorsy.

Here are my camping essentials:

.A waterproof coat. If you're a bit of a girly-girl like me go for one with drawstrings or a bit of shape to it.

.A cardigan for cold nights (and cold days!)

.Sunglasses. Well, you never know!

.A scarf is handy for accessorizing, snuggling up in or those bad hair days when you really wish you had your straighteners with you!

.A hat for disguising the fact that the washing facilities are less than perfect.

.Cropped jeans or chinos will mean they're less likely to drag in the mud and get wet.

.Shorts have become a major staple in my wardrobe, and are great for sunny days, or for layering with tights and long socks on the cold ones.

.Cute pjs you won't feel embarrassed nipping across the camping ground to the loo in the middle of the night in!

.Multiple light-weight, flat pairs of shoes for when one pair gets wet/dirty/starts to rub your feet.

.A first aid kit with all sorts of useful things like suncream, insect repellent, plasters, antiseptic wipes etc etc!

.Makeup. I did say I was not good with nature after all!

Are you a camping aficionado? Do you have any suggestions for me, or any horror stories?!

Love the clothes you've put together, especially the shorts.

I've been camping once or twice in my childhood (long ago), but I did have fun, despite not being the outdoor type.

Great little article!

I am not particularly well-prepared for being outdoors, despite what many people think in regards to my location, so I've only been camping on a summer camp trip when I was younger. There were 16 boys and 3 girls, and the boys tried to convince us that Bigfoot lived in the woods and would come eat us if we fell asleep..not so fun! I hope your trip will be much more fun. :)
