Buttons!

I am being super lazy and getting my mum to sew on a missing button to an old favourite dress tonight, so just a sneak peak til I can take a proper outfit photo later in the week. Aren't they pretty though?

Actually it's not just laziness that stops me sewing, it's incompetence - I really can't sew. I wish I had been taught at some point, I know it's not so very feminist of me, but I think a few more Home Economics classes wouldn't have gone a miss - for girls and boys. Not that I regret my time learning physics, maths and history, but I'd also like to be able to do my own mending, perhaps even something more complicated than a button!

Such pretty buttons! I love revamping a much-loved piece with a set of shiny new buttons! :)

How very pretty!
I wish I could sew, as well. They should have taught Home Ec at my school!

This is so true. Not just sewing on buttons and the like - I had housemates who were amazed I could rewire a plug! Perhaps there should be some sort of lessons in practicality?

Though, textiles/cooking/woodwork/graphic design were compulsory for the first three years of my secondary education, taking it in turns with each one.

I'm not GREAT at sewing, but I can hem, put buttons on and use my own machine. It's so useful, especially when it comes to getting a topshop dress with a broke zip for a fiver and mending it in minutes yourself :D x

Lovely buttons! I always wished I'd been able to take a home ec. class. In my high school, you could only take it if you didn't take music and well... I took music, so that meant no sewing for me.

Oh my god, those buttons are so beautiful! Don't worry, I didn't pay attention in Home Ec either...really wish I did now so I could do some DIY.

Cute buttons! I agree with you - sewing should be taught at schoolss: being able to fix simple things is a key skill and effective money mangagement, as so many people would lose a button and buy new instead of repairing!

Why dont you do a class? I did a beginners course a couple of years ago, and i'm so glad I did!

They are such beautiful buttons! They are sooo adorable. I can't sew either: I tried once and didn't get very far.
