Miele Night!

Yesterday I went with a few other bloggers to a lovely evening hosted by Miele (yup, the washing machine people!) and the fashion designer Jasper Garvida.

Now I knew the name was familiar, but it wasn't until I saw him in the flesh that I remembered who he was - the winner of Project Catwalk - the UK's answer to Project Runway! This was very exciting, as I love Project Runway, and was really sad Project Catwalk didn't last longer. We got the opportunity to chat to Jasper and ask him some questions, and then we got a sneaky look at his next season's collection, which is inspired by Malachite and Art Deco, meaning gorgeous shapes, luxurious lines and gorgeous green prints.

I was a terribly lax blogger and forgot my camera, but I found some photos of the collection on flickr so all is well! I asked Jasper if he thought that reality tv shows were a good way for young designers to showcase their work, or if there was a risk of becoming a one hit wonder like so many X-Factor and Big Brother contestants past. He said that he felt it really is what you make of it, and I was interested to learn that of his fellow Project Catwalk contestants several have their own lines and one who got booted off the show quite early now designs for Lady Gaga!

I loved all the imbellishments he used, and there was a nice mixture of tailored, structured dresses and floating beautiful 20s style gowns - heavenly!

I did get a photo of my goodie bag when I got home though!

What a strange collaboration! But I love the dresses - it's nice to hear that the designers who didn't win were still successful, sometimes you wonder if reality shows actually help their careers

Ah, so lovely! I can definitely see the Art Deco influence. It's like a mixture of architecture and fashion - so yum!
