Tea with the Queen

Although I'll admit I was a bit depressed to get back to London after my holiday, I made sure to plan one or two treats in to make coming back seem worth it (when in doubt, bribe yourself!) For christmas my rather charming boyfriend bought me a trip to the Queen's Gallery in Buckingham Palace followed by afternoon tea at the Grosvenor Hotel, and I decided now was the perfect time to cash it in. Obviously I made sure to dress for the occaision in this Fearne Cotten for Very dress, which I have loved ever since I bought it in February, although for some reason every time I wear it I end up spilling red wine down it! This time I solved the problem by sticking to champagne!

The exhibition at the Gallery was about Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, and their shared love for art. I know they were extraordinary privilidged comared to just about everyone else in Victorian England, but I did think they were quite romantic in their love for each other, and I loved seeing the beautiful pictures and sculpture they purchased for each other as presents. Especially the 'sexy' pictures they had done of themselves to give to each other, fully clothed obviously, but Victoria is very risque in having her hair down!

have you seen the movie 'the young Victoria'? Emily Blunt is lovely in it.

This looks like a perfect bribe afternoon. Very pretty dress. I'm glad it escaped the wine this time.

The V & A was the one museum I missed when I was last in London and I heartily regret it. I heard the jewellery collection is awesome. Also, do they still show Canalettos at the Queen's Gallery?

I won a gift voucher for tea at the Wolseley and I'm so excited! When I feel depressed I window-shop tea rooms. Your verdict on the Grosvenor?
