Weekend Buys

Left to Right: Umbrella Academy, Mac Liquidlast Eyeliner in Black, Gap Breton Tee

When I was at uni I used to spend hardly anything on clothes each term, and save my pennies up for big shopping trips in the holidays. These days the thought of a whole day shopping is a bit of a luxury, and most of my shopping trips get squeezed in after work or around other things.

This weekend in between an exhibition on Samurai and watching Kickass on dvd (such a good film!) I picked up a few new bits and bobs I've been meaning to for a while. I get through eyeliner so fast, I'm probably worse than your local goth so I needed some more of my favourite Mac stuff. I also saw this lovely breton tee for only £10 in Gap and who ever has enough stripey t-shirts? Finally I've been a bit out of the graphic novel loop, but I absolutely love them, especially anything vaguely apocalyptic involving super powers (yes, I am just a big geek) so I bought The Umbrella Academy Volume One from Waterstones. I'm a bit embarassed to say it''s written by one of the members of My Chemical Romance... oh dear!

Do you like to do big shopping trips or do you go for the little and often approach?

That tee is amazing! I wish the Gap here had not closed... well, they're turning it into a Jack Wills now so I can't really complain too much!

I was just about to say 'Our Gap has closed too' in response to the above comment and then realised that she lives in the same place as me. I want that t-shirt so badly.

I totally didn't realise that you were into graphic novels, now I love you even more! x

I guess I tend to do most of my shopping when I shouldn't - online and sometimes on the way to and from the museums/libraries/seminars. I guess if I lived on a campus I'd save a fortune!
That Gap t-shirt looks cute and i like the eyeliner tip!

I adore the Breton Gap tee, it’s practical and stylish, and a girl can never have too many stripes in her life!

I never go on a big shopping trip, I tend to do little and often, as I see something (if reasonably priced) I will more than likely buy it there and then. It’s just easier that way for me xx

My Gap closed, and I'm definitely not where the previous commenters are, because ours turned into a horrible chavvy shop!

I was looking for some eyeliner this weekend but didn't end up getting any. I'd like to try Mac, but nowhere around here sells it and I'd like to see it in person before buying.

I intend to shop little and often, but usually I can't resist cramming a few extra shops in there, so it's more like medium and often.

I've heard great things about MACs liquidlast. Let us know if it's any good.
OOO a stripey tee. It's true, you can never have too many stripes.

Nothing wrong with MCR!! I purchased the first episode of the Umbrella Academy series and it's been sat under my bed every since!

Oh girl, I have an unhealthy amount of striped tops, I'm too scared to count!

Do you have any other graphic novels that you recommend?

Aw, I'm disappointed, I totally thought you were going to shout out My Chem... It's why I clicked onto this post! (don't mind the closet emo kid)
Umbrella Academy was pretty cool, but it ended up just reminding me of Lemony Snicket, if Lemony Snicket had written X-Men.
