Matalan were kind enough to invite me along to their High Summer Press day on Tuesday, which happened to coincide perfectly with my mini-staycation (I have three days off work this week for some much needed R&R just lounging around at home, bliss!) so I took the opportunity to go and see some of their lovely summer clothes and enjoy breakfast with them. Okay so I got there at about midday, but I was on holiday so it was still breakfast time to me!

I basically never go on beach holidays so I wasn't sure the clothes would really be for me, but I was pleastantly surprised, as while there were lots of swimming costumes and kaftans, there was plenty for summer in the UK too. For me the stand out item of the day was the little faux-leather and canvas backpack in the final photo. I think you'll see more than one fashion blogger (including me) with that this summer.

Goodness, there's so much pretty in this post! All of those fabrics are so lovely. I quite like the little bird one, and the horse one is quite sweet as well. And definitely, definitely love that backpack as well. You'd better have nabbed one so I can live vicariously through you!

I like that pixelly looking floral skirt a lot. I was looking for something like it last summer but never did manage to find anything.
