Manicure

While I was at the Matalan Press day on Tuesday, my friend Reda and I decided to take advantage of their on-hand Barry M manicurists to get out nails done.

After being severely told off for how short my nails were I was eventually allowed to pick what some colours and we got down to it! I have never had my nails painted professionally before, so it was really interesting to have it done for the first time. My manicurist was so fast, and layered the varnish on while it was still wet, which is something I would never do at home for fear of smudging.

I chose a light pink base, with the new BarryM crackle effect topcoat in pink (they do blue as well now) on top, and Reda went for a red and glitter base with the classic black crackle effect on top. I haven't tried the crackle effect before, although I've seen it on a lot of other bloggers and I really like it. It was difficult to photograph properly though!

I got my first manicure last year - it was great to see how the professionals paint nails! I love the crackle glaze, but I haven't tried it out just yet. It's amazing how much it looks like animal print.
I don't think your nails are too short! Some people just have longer nails than others, they shouldn't have told you off!

Ooh i love the new pink crackle effect, it looks lovely - and a bit more subtle than the black :)
I've had a couple of manucures before and I'm always shocked at how quick they work too- i literally flinch when they start painting over a wet coat..gah! x

Loving both the nail designs! Isn't it so luxurious to have someone else do your nails? I keep my nails quite short too, I don't see why that's a problem!

I've never had a professional manicure before either. Probably because I'm too cheap. :P I just do it myself. That, and like you, I have really stubby fingernails as well (long nails drive me batty), and I live in fear of them nagging at me for it!

I'd love a manicure! But my nails are even shorter than yours, though I'm having a really good go at growing them now, I'm still a biter at heart. Loving the new Barry M crackle varnish, especially in the pink. I love it more than the black! Reminds me a little bit of leopard print, ooh. I might have to buy me some of that.

Oooh I like it. I keep my nails short too, I prefer them that way- I've never been one for longer nails. They look great on other people but for myself they just get in the way, break and I just feel like they are a bit unhygienic, maybe that's just me though!

the rseults are so pretty! I've only had my nails done semi-porfessionally once, for my wedding. She took 2 hours. More practice required!

The pink on pink actually makes me think of scabs, so I don't think I'll be trying it, I have a bit of a scab phobia. I must have a must-make-visual-links kinda mind, because the black on red glitter is making me think of volcanoes!

I love your dress, though. I've been daydreaming about that one for a few weeks now.
