Keep on Running

I set out to John Lewis last week with one goal in mind. To find the least ugly running shoes in existance and buy them.

I am most emphatically not a trainer girl. I have owned the same pair since I was about 17 and since then they have been worn to every single occiasion since where I could not get away with a high heel, or at least a stylish brogue. When I bought them they were very much 'fashion' trainers though, and as it's got warmer and I've started running again in earnest I decided the time had come to actually buy something that didn't give me shin splints...

I'm not quite sure if my quest to find a non-ugly (in my eyes anyway!) running shoe succeeded, but they are light and bouncy as air! Ok, I would have rather spent the money on something pretty, but with the Aussie Lucious Light challenge coming up, I am on a mission to start looking after myself a bit better. Plus they're Aussie colours too!

Now I've actually got to make myself get out there and use them, so I'm after some good running music. My favourites at the moment are The Chalets and The Hairspray Soundtrack. Any recommendations for fun upbeat music to get my jog on to?

I love your trainers! The colour is really nice. Mine are bog standard ugly ones but they are Nike and do have a red swoosh on them. Getting them in red was a must for me :) I hate how so many women's trainers are all pink pink pink. I need some new ones after my 10k run though that support my feet a bit better I think. Want to get my gait measured too.

I love them! They're a great colour. I need to get lusciously light this summer as well. All I've managed is some spring cleaning.
I definitely need to start running.

Oo challenge successful I think! They're preetty. I like to jog to 90s and 00s dance music - e.g. Fatboy Slim, Bassment Jaxx, Mousse T, Bobby Brown etc. x

Ooh your trainers are SO pretty! I went down the pretty route for my first pair of 'time to get serious about running' trainers, and found a pair with a floral pattern inside. They were so pretty, alas they were not built for running! I ended up having to go to a proper running shop and buy a fitted pair which I can actually run in now. Not pretty, but at least they do the job!

As for running music, as much as I hate to admit it, Kesha's songs are pretty upbeat and great for running to. I would never listen to Pitbull during leisure time, but some of his songs (I like 'on the floor') are good too. It's hard to find exercise music but the right songs definitely do help you push yourself!

God, I love the colour of your trainers! My first pair were ugly & grey & horrible & had coffee stains on them for when I used to wear them for work sometimes (naughty) but before Christmas, I treated myself to a pair of better running shoes & boy, they make a difference. Plus I'm priding on the fact that they are white & purple & the white is still that nice bright tennis white shade.

'Sexy Mistake' is a brilliant running song! My running playlist changes ALL the time because if I get too used to songs, they just annoy me & I become aware of how long I've been running for. Make sense? However at the moment I'm (guiltily) loving 'Stay Too Long' by Plan B - the sweary bit at the end makes me dig really deep & storm my feet into the ground. Angry songs are great!

Those trainers are really cute. You're right that most are plain ugly, but I know proper footwear is a must when running or you end up with injuries. Good luck with your training.

Oh those are great trainers, awesome colour! Good luck with the running, I love how lots of bloggers are turning to that at the moment. I should probably do something similar...but so far, concentrating on snacking on healthy food etc.

Oh my goodness Harriet, I had the exact same experience last week: it took me ages to find a pair because I really begrudged spending my money on TRAINERS!! But I've just started running so needs must and at least the fact that I've bought them means that I am more likely to go running and put them to good use!!

I agree as well. Breathing and air circulation for running is also good for the foot. My podiatrists said that breathing and light shoes are ideal for summer and spring running.
