Pop your collar on

Dress - DKNY, Brooch - Vintage, Collar - Vintage

I received the most beautiful present from my grandma in the post last week - this perfect vintage lace collar. My Great Grandmother wore it to school when she was young, over a hundred years ago.

I feel very honoured to have had it past down to me and I am definitely going to love wearing it. When I first saw how delicate it was I thought maybe it would be better to just keep it safe and look at it rather than actually using it. But I think it's a bit of a shame to save things for best, even vintage should be worn rather than put away in a museum forever.

What do you think? Do you have things that are too special for everyday use, or are you a wear-it-now-and-hope-for-the-best person?

Wow what a lucky girl! Its so beautiful. I agree that things should be worn, its such a shame for things to be hidden away. As long as your extra careful with things it shouldn't be a problem.

I think you should wear it but it is a bit scary too! You look very Dowager Duchess x French school child - winning combo.

Oh my, what an honour to have that piece! It is beautiful, and I think it's great that you will be using and appreciating it. Why hide it away?

you lucky thing! I'd be scared too, but things are made to be worn and lived in, it's all part of life. xx

I tend to keep far to many of my clothes for best, I can't seem to help hoarding but I agree something that beautiful needs to be seen.

Definitely a believer in wearing and loving things rather than keeping them in a box somewhere. Why not bring the extra joy into your life?

Oh, it's lovely. I've inherited some lace blouses from my great grandma, but if I tried to wear them they would just fall apart. Which is a shame.

What a beautiful and lovely thing to have. My Great Grandmother is still with us, but apparently she's thrown almost everything sentimental away.

The nicest thing my mum has though, is her parents wedding rings, and her mum's engagement ring, as her dad died in '92. She wears her mum's rings everyday, and I think it's such a nice thing to have.

The collar is stunning. Having a relative pass on something that means a lot is always special.
I always wear things and hope for the best!

Oh that is lovely! I would be too scared to wear it and would just wear it for occasions like dinners out. Don't think I could bear to wear it for work! But yes, things should be worn and not hidden away.

I would say with something so pretty its a shame to hide it away, I would get my use out of it but at the same time keep it in good condition by keeping an eye on the wear n tear of it. I love how you've styled it up and it was ever so lovely to meet you the other night! Can't wait to see your post of the event! x
