Matalan Style Project

A couple of weeks ago Matalan contacted me and asked if I wanted to take part in this month's style project. Each month they give four bloggers the opportunity to style an outfit based on a theme and then readers of the matalan blog can vote to decide whose is the best.

I have to say when I first heard the theme my heart sunk a little. In case it isn't obvious from the photos (which it probably isn't!) the theme was festival chic. I have never even been to a festival, and I can't stand camping! Still, undeterred I had a good browse through their website and came up with my perfect festival outfit. I imagined I'd want something really simple and easy to wear, with lots of colour and pattern to stand out from the crowd. I'd definitely need a chunky heel to keep my feet clear of the mud, and a big cardi to wrap up in when it got cold at night.

If you like my outfit I'd love for you to take a gander over to the matalan blog and vote for me. I'm a bit behind at the moment, and I'd love to be able to rival some of the others. Of course if you head over there and like one of the other girls' outfits better I won't hold it against you... too much!

i think this was the best phrase I ve ever read: "Of course if you head over there and like one of the other girls' outfits better I won't hold it against you"!hhheheeh!but I honestly thought your look was the best so I voted- well, I think I d wear flats just because I do not feel so comfortable dancing in heels!

I would have had no idea how to style 'festival chic' either! I have no desire to ever go to a festival. BUT you still look 'chic' and that dress is so very pretty! Of course I'll head over and vote for you :)

This looks like the perfect festival outfit to me, Harriet, as I also HATE camping and have never been to a festival in my life.
No worries, I would never give my vote to anyone but you!

Great job on a festival look. The cardi is so perfect, and I love the dress.

It's a lovely outfit, though as a dedicated festival goer and music fan I'm afraid those shoes wouldn't last five minutes once you'd been drunk dancing for 12hrs in a field ;) Love that dress and it really suits you! I always associate pastel colours with you x

Voted! I love this combination, kinda slouchy ladylike. I've only ever been to festivals in Hyde Park - one day, no mud, no muss, no fuss and definitely no camping! Definitely a perk :).

I hate "festival chic" as a look... if I ever went to a festival I would just wear my own style anyway. But I loved your outfit so I voted for you!

I just hoppped over to the Matalan blog and none of you are wearing festival appropriate shoes! Tsk, I'll sum up the problem with two words: leaking toilets.

It's a nice dress though, stick some wellies on and you're away!

I don't really get 'festival chic' either because I've only ever been to one festival when I was 15! But I love your dress here. Not sure the heels would be very festival friendly but they're lovely!

I loove Festival chic, I don't think I do it very well myself, but hey! Festival chic seems to have come to be a 'style' in itself... its moe about self expression and having fun though, theres no rule to say its all ripped tank tops and denim cutoffs :) you look gorgeous!
