The Dream Queen

I am such a sucker for a nice lady on a make-up counter. I only popped into Selfridges to replace my Mac eyeliner, but it was right next door to the Estee Lauder counter and things just happen when someone persuades me that a little pot of goodness is going to change my life...

Actually the assistant didn't give me a hard sell at all. I was nearly through my Double Wear light foundation and after hearing really good things about the 'normal' version I decided to see if I could get a tester to take home and try out. Twenty minutes later, a good natter with the lady at the counter and a face full of makeup which looked rather lovely if I do say so myself and I was walking away with a small fortune in makeup!

I really do love the foundation, it makes my skin look great, and is a good match to my natural colour, so I look like me, just better! My skin doesn't seem that happy with me wearing it everyday though, so I'm trying to restrict it to a bit on my cheeks and round my eyes.I've also learnt a clean foundation brush is vital to it looking at all natural!

What's your favourite beauty product or top makeup tip? I'm still very much a makeup novice and I trust blogger reviews much more than magazine ones!

Good morning Harriet;-)
My make-up is pretty basic.
Bobbi Brown natural finish long lasting foundation with SPF15.
I apply it with my fingers for a dewy look along with a spot of blush and lipcolour.

I bought a really nice foundation last week - it's a mineral one called Mica I think - I'll have to write a post about it! I hope you took pictures of your face when it was all done up?! I want to see! :)

I've been using the same mac blusher for four years now and I've only had to replace it one! I think there make-up is such good value for money...although it seems pricey at first, it lasts so much longer than most other brands so you totally get your money's worth. I've been looking for a new foundation, this one sounds great. Would love if you could take a look at the latest style icon post from the Goldie London blog. This week we've chosen Jean Shrimpton and have found some great images of her. Let me know what you think!

I'm on the look out for a new foundation... I currently have MAC Studio Fix Fluid (with studio fix powder too) and it's coming to an end. I'm not 100% happy with it so I want a new one. I'm looking at Clinique at the moment, but browsing beauty blogs for reviews.

This sounds like a great product, and really useful. My new favourite product is a gatineau cream, and it's amazing!

Heard such good things about this foundation.

I'm more a tinted moisturiser woman myself, I find foundation a bit heavy sometimes. My favourite is No.7 triple protection tinted moisturiser. This one of yours looks like a lovely product!

Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge for lips and cheeks, GOSH cosmetics eye shadow products (bright colours with better staying power than MAC), and MAC PlushGlass in Ample Pink. If I use that lip gloss daily, it keeps my lips in great condition... no need for balms!

I too was lured by the lovely people on the make-up counter who made me look like a much prettier version of myself last week :) Bought a Dior lipstick!!

I use No 7's tinted moisturiser. But I'm thinking of upgrading to the Laura Mercier one as I've heard good things about it.

I've heard so much about this foundation! Will have to try it. My favourite make-up product is probably benefit's highlighter, love the glow :)

I've only ever heard good things about this! Liking the fact that the counter lady didn't try a hard sell, I hate when that happens, it makes you feel uncomfortable and not want to browse anymore!

I would agree with finger applying and clean hands. Brushes however well I think I have cleaned them give me a break out. I love Chanel foundation personally, but will give this a try at one of the counters, there can always be better :) x

Babes the best thing is Laura Merciers oil free tinted moisturizer. trust me!!! no break outs and flawless skin.

Also Pixi does a great concealer for under the eyes.

My favourite product at the moment is the MaxFactor liptint that comes in a pen type thing. So great to use.

I've moved from more traditional make-up to mineral make-up and that really works for me. Latest purchase was a very dark plum/purple eyeliner- goes on like a smooth and creamy dream, stay put and comes with one of those little smudgy sponges on the end as well as a sharpener. Cosmetic LOVE

I'd never bought an expensive foundation before this year, but Clinique's Superbalanced foundation is worth every penny. It makes my skin look so healthy and clear, without needing to cake it on and I've had skin compliments for the first time in my life! It's about £22 but if you wait until they have the buy 2 products and get a big tub of freebies deals it works out good value...

I've been considering buying this one but I've been a bit put off by reviews that dub it too heavy fir everyday wear. Maybe I should just give it a go anyway? So many bloggers seem to use it!
