Mac Velvet Teddy Lipstick Review

I have quite a growing collection of lipsticks now, but because I am always attracted to bright colours and shiny things most of them are vampy reds which are not day appropriate at all! I really wanted a lipstick for more daily wear, so after trying on a variety on my hand (you really can't tell anything from putting a lipstick on your hand in my opinion! I always hold it up to my face but it still doesn't reallygive me much of an idea how it will look on.) I gave in and asked the advice of the very lovely sales assistant in the Manchester Selfridges concession.

She pulled a few that she thought would suit me, and Velvet Teddy immediately won me over. The colour is subtle, but strong enough that is still looks like I am wearing some lipstick (no point in being too subtle about these things otherwise I might as well not bother is my general approach to makeup!) and have I raved about how good Mac lipsticks smell already?! They smell like chocolate, which is quite delicious!

The colour is relatively long lasting, and unlike my bright red collection doesn't look all gross and bitty when it's wearing off and I've forgotten to re-apply (Or is that just me who has that problem?!) In conclusion this colour is definitely a winner for me, my only fault with Mac lipsticks is I find them quite drying - if they put some sort of moisturiser in the formula they would be perfect!

I love the colour on you. I know what you mean about the drying effect of MAC lipsticks, to be honest thats why I stopped using them.
My go to day lipstick is Chanel Rouge Coco Shine, swear it's so moisturiser and lasts nearly all day without reapplying

Interesting colour, I love the MAC sales assistants they always point out colours you'd never think of choosing yourself. This looks lovely on you!

Great colour Harriet! I actually have quite a few Mac lipsticks and my favourite formula is their cremesheen range which is more moisturising. I've been using their lip primer for a month or so now after picking it up at duty free- really does extend the staying power of lipsticks! Definitely worth a try.

It's a gorgeous colour on you. I'm always drawn to neutral lip colours, so I'll be trying this one out! And also, I love MAC!

It looks lovely! I love that color. I'll note that down. Funny how some weeks ago I had the same idea. I always wear Russian Red-like lipsticks and to work (I'm an elementary school teacher) it was too much. My choice of more "everyday" lipstick was MAC Crosswires! It's a lovely pinkish-coral, very similar to my actual real color!

This looks so good on you! Pink tones never go with my skin tone but I loved the color. Mac lipsticks are so lovely.

This is a great colour. I love bright lipsticks and I always struggle to find an every day colour. Anything too pale or nude just washes me out. I tried asking at mac a couple of months ago but the girl was surprisingly unhelpful. I'll try again sometime when they're less busy. X

Lovely lipstick and such beautiful photographs you have taken with it! I wear red lipstick all the time so I've found that problem also, I've been forever searching for that perfect red that doesn't go all crumbly and bitty but have had no luck! ):

That color is lovely on you! I've never tried mac lipstick before, but maybe I will if I spy a sale going on. I also have problems with how dry lipsticks can be, but maybe if you put lip balm on before applying?
