Plaid

top - topshop, skirt - french connection, hat - urban outfitters, shoes - clarks, necklace - vintage

About four years ago I was obsessed with plaid. Obsessed. It was shortly before my stripes phase, and shortly after my long flowy skirt phase but what it mainly had in common with those two phases (and ok, the stripes phase I'm still in!) is that when I like something I wear it a lot.

Well I got over my plaid obsession and although I have a few pieces still left from it I don't think I've bought anything new in plaid until now. But I haven't seen much in the shops that I like recently (I've decided I'm not really a massive fan of pastels, neon or sportsluxe so there's not that much left...) so I didn't take much persuading to buy when I did see something that I liked!

I wore this on Saturday for my Dad's birthday - we went to see Salmon Fishing in the Yemen at the cinema which me and my mum loved, my boyfriend thought was ok and my dad hated... so uh, great birthday treat for him there! It had Emily Blunt and Kristen Scott Thomas in, both of whom I love so that was the main reason I enjoyed it, also Emily Blunt has a really nice flat in the film, and oh yes, her character is called Harriet!

As you can see I am steadfastly ignoring the fact that it's wet, cold and miserable in South East England at the moment. Note to self, sheer force of will alone is not enough to make wearing white shoes in a downpour a good idea.

I love your ouftit! I used to love plaid too, until stripes took over. I think I keep a shirt, similar to that one and some skirts. Now I'm obsessed with striped t-shirts (actually navy and white, only) and floral patterns. :)

I've always been more than a little obsessed with plaid. Plaid shirts are my favourite.
Love this outfit. The shoes are so pretty.

I'm finding it difficult wearing plaid, which is silly because it looks great on you! I think I will change my ways... xoxo

I love this shirt! I really want to see Salmon Fishing in the Yemen but seem to have fallen out of the loop of going to the cinema these days. x

Love your outfit! I'm also having a hard time embracing all the super neon and sports-influenced stuff. Also, everything is so sheer and/or drapey. Not sure that's a word, but you know what I mean. Just a lot of stuff in stores lately that doesn't seem to fit together.

I love plaid! I don't wear it so much anymore (like you, I've moved on to stripes) but I used to be obsessed with plaid shirts when I was younger : ) x

Oh it's so rainy..but your outfit really brightens up the dreary weather, love the skirt with that shirt. I'm pretty out of touch with what's on at the cinema back home...but you're the second person who've said they've enjoyed that film!

I too am obsessed with plaid! So much so that I am wearing a plaid shirt right now haha. I saw Salmon Fishing in the Yemen and absolutely fell in love with Harriet's wardrobe! xx

wouldn't picture a check shirt worked that well with a skirt like that but it sure does, shame about the film (for the lads)

I must get to see that film before it stops running.
I think I may have to rescue my plaid shirt from the charity bag...
