Blogging Resources

I've been planning on redesigning my blog for approximately the past forever, and it's probably going to be another month or two before I actually get it done, but on the way I've discovered a few great blogs with loads of tips, tricks and free design elements that I wanted to share with you because they are too good to keep to myself!

Pugly Pixel is one of my favourite blogs ever. She is so knowledgeable about photoshop and css and other blog design-y things, I have done pretty much all her free tutorials and she has produced some great freebie bits to use in photoshop as well. They are designed for proper-photoshop, but I've had no problems using them in Photoshop Elements either. Recently I paid $25 (about £16) to take her online course in CSS, which was such good value and I learnt so much about making my blog exactly how I want it. Seriously I could rave about her blog all day!

Creature Comforts is a blog with a great free downloads and printables section. These arrow brushes for photoshop are my favourite, and although they say they just work for photoshop CS3 and above again they worked fine in photoshop elements.

The handmade home has an amazing series called the Font Snob, which as you may have guessed is a collection of really lovely fonts that are all free. If you want to include some different fonts in your blog but aren't sure where to start this is a great resource for finding some beautiful type.

Finally August Empress is an amazing design website that is ridiculously inspiring, as well as containing some really great textures, widgets, thingamyjigs and basically everything I wanted on my blog but didn't know quite how to describe! They are a mixture of free and pay resources, but the pay ones are very reasonably priced and oh so worth it.

If you know any more great blog design and photoshop resources you think I should know about please do let me know!

I like to keep things simple re. blog design and so forth since I'm not as good as others on such matters, however, I appreciate the above tips. They are now saved for future use;)

What a fantastic post.
Thanks so much!
I'm forever redesigning my blog but I figure once I get it right, it'll be right and I'll stop playing around..!
I'm an I.T. geek at heart so very tempted by the CSS tutorial... I'd love to be able to do more.

I just finished updating my blog's layout so I'm still on a massive design-high at the moment. I find most of my blog designing to be 90% Googling and 10% 'actually doing'. Bookmarked this lot so hopefully I can avoid that next time!
