Rimmel Kate Moss Matte Lipsticks

This one time, at fashion week (as all good stories start!) I ended up accidentally on purpose in the Glam lounge because my feet hurt and I really wanted a sandwich and somehow ended up leaving three hours later with a bag full of rimmel goodies and a load of new (and old) blogger friends.

It's taken me a while to blog about the makeup because I have never really used rimmel products before, or at least not since I was about 13 or 14 and they've definitely gone through at least one rebrand since then, so I didn't want to judge them by the 13-year-old-me's taste. Since I started using makeup more as an adult I've always stuck to higher end brands, so it's a nice change to try a brand again that I used to use to give my friends horrific makeovers at sleepovers back in the day! I got given five of the Kate Moss Lasting Finish Matte lipsticks, and I've worn them all now, so I thought I'd jot down a few thoughts.

This purpley-red is such a great colour - I wish it suited me better than it does. The colour is just too bold for me to get away with apart from at Halloween though! I do wish Rimmel had given the lipsticks names rather than just numbers though - this is shade 107, which just doesn't sound that exciting when you say it really.

I've worn this colour a few times now, and it is a very pretty orangey pink colour. I think the orange isn't as good with my skintone as a more bluey toned red, but it's been long lasting and doesn't go too flakey when I forget to reapply, which are my main requirements for lipsticks!

This is probably my least favourite of all the colours, apart from shade 113 which was so hideously wrong I didn't even take a photo(!) This was a surprise as I am usually a big fan of dusky pinks. I just don't think it was pigmented enough for me unfortunately.

Which leads me on to my favourite, and possibly my favourite lip colour of all time. Randomly this is the only one of the shades which has a name. It's 'kiss of life' and it's just basically the perfect red lipstick ever.

The colour is super bright but flattering, and I love the bluey undertones as they really work for me. This will definitely be my go to autumn and winter lip colour. The lipsticks are £5.49 each apparently, which is pretty damn good compared to what I usually spend!

Finally this is what it looked like after I'd taken all these photos:

I much prefer to see makeup actually on rather than just swatched in reviews, so I spent ages applying and reapplying! What do you think - to swatch or not to swatch?

I like shade 111 and 107 the most and think I'm just going to give in and buy these. Thank you for the lip swatches, I like seeing how lipstick looks on more than swatches alone xx

I actually think shade 107 really suits you, I bought that recently and I love it but it can make me look a bit gothic with my hair!

I always show a photo of make-up on and if it's something like foundation or concealer I'll do a before and after. I feel like swatches don't really show readers much! x

111 all the way! I'd already decided this in picture 1, but at the end was even more convinced, although 110 is very pretty, too... Spoiled for choice. xo

This is a great way to show off lipsticks, I really wish it suited me but I find it such a pain to apply properly. Love 111 the most.

All the lipstick shades look gorgeous. I'm a fan of nude shades more so quite like 101. But 111 suits you the best.
I've not tried the Kate Moss for Rimmel shades so definitely will now.

I spend a lot of time searching for the perfect red lipstick & it's those with a blue tone that seem to work the best. Really like this post.

I definitely prefer seeing lipstick actually on lips rather than just on a wrist so I appreciate all your effort! Definitely gives you a better impression of what lipsticks look like.

Rimmel make up really brings back memories! I used to use it when I was a teenager too. I love the red shade in the first picture, beauutiful.

I think 107 really suits you actually - and 111/kiss of life : ) I've only done a couple of reviews and was too nervous to model them so the first review came out like this:

http://shipshapeandbristolfashion.wordpress.com/2011/09/27/getting-lippy-with-mac/

which doesn't really do it's awesomeness justice! I think they way you've shot these is good - there's nothing worse than seeing a really blurry, up close shot of someone's lips (in my opinion). x

I love photos, they're much better than a swatch on the back of a hand. Did you find these drying? I just read a review (literally two minutes ago) saying they were. But I love the shades 110 and 111 so much I'm tempted to try them anyway....

I love 111! Perfect red shade for you :)

Never tried any Rimmel products, still not that big in America. Always go to covergirl or maybelline
