Hello, my name is Harriet and I'm a Boots-aholic. I have spent way too much money recently in that shop, and their double Boots points in the month of your birthday did not help! I've bought a few new things from the makeup aisles, so here is a bit of a rundown of the new things in my makeup routine.
Real Techniques Core Collection Brushes
I finally picked up the Real Techniques core collection of brushes, which are just as amazing as everyone says. It comes with the buffing brush (of wonder), foundation brush and contouring brush, and the little details brush, which is the only one I don't currently use much (too fiddly for me!). They have quickly become part of my daily makeup routine, and they are so much better than anything else I've used.
Rimmel London Scandaleyes
The Rimmel Scandaleyes eyeliners were actually in a goodie bag I picked up back in September at London Fashion Week, and I hadn't tried out until recently. Usually I am a liquid eyeliner devotee, but it's nice to try something different every so often, and these are really easy to use, long lasting and look great around the under eye especially for a smudgy-smokey look. These two are in Bronze and Taupe, the bronze is my absolute favourite.
Eye Pencil Sharpener
I've used my bronze scandaleyes liner so much I had to buy a pencil sharpener for it, so that's a pretty good endorsement!
Mabelline Colour Tattoo 24 Hour Cream Eyeshadow
I already have one of these cream eyeshadows in Permanent Taupe and I love how long lasting they are, but the colour didn't really work for me. This is the On and On Bronze shade (can you tell I'm having a bronze moment?) and it's lovely. A really glittery golden bronze, and it really does last as long as they say. They are really reasonably priced too, so I'm probably going to end up with a few more once I let myself visit a makeup counter again!
Bobbi Brown Long Wear Even Finish Foundation
I bought this on a lot of bloggers recommendations when I was looking for a new foundation and I'm pretty happy with it. I wear the lightest shade, porcelain, and it is a pretty good match for my skin colour, and I like the feel of it. It's a medium coverage and does cling a little bit more than I would like to dry skin, but I think it's pretty good for the price (£30). I'd definitely buy it again.
Rimmel Lash Accelerator Endless Mascara
This was the only thing in my little haul that I wasn't totally wowed by. It does a good job of separating my lashes, but they look a bit spidery, and I prefer a more volumous look ideally. The search for the perfect mascara continues.
What makeup have you been using recently? Any recommendations for when I take my advantage card off ice and go back into Boots?
