Rituals

rituals-1

I was reading an issue of Elle Decor recently and they had an intresting little article on rituals, and the daily/weekly/monthly little things you do that make a difference in your life. The article inteviewed lots of the magazine's staff, and it was really interesting to hear about all the habits people had in their week. I thought I'd share mine, and I'd love to hear about yours in the comments!

1. Every Sunday night I put on a face mask and watch youtube makeup videos. It's my 'urgh, I have to go to work tomorrow, I am going to be totally self indulgent today' ritual. Usually it's a Ren mask and a video from Lily Pebbles or Gh0stparties.

2. Twice a week I get up early and go running. Yes, I'm still keeping my New Year's Resolution! Ok, so it is often more like once a week, but it still makes me feel good knowing I am keeping some exercise in my routine.

3. On a Friday and Saturday evening, around about seven it is drinks and nibbles o'clock! This is a ritual I started with my mum when I still lived at home, and one I have kept up since I moved out. Unless I'm out I always try and sit down with a glass of wine, a bowl of nibbles and good company for an hour or so before we make dinner.

4. Saturday morning is for reading blogs. I just love the feeling of waking up on a Saturday, and knowing you don't have to get out of bed for a while, feeling all warm and cosy with a cup of coffee and your favourite blogs. Pure Bliss!

These don't always happen every week, I've been so busy recently it's hard to get everything in, but I try and make sure I get at least one or two of them in each week to keep me sane.

I cheered the moment I saw the title of this post. I am a big rituals fan and I love reading about other people's me-times and pamper evenings and routines. I loved the idea and maybe I'll do a similar post too! (Zoella subscriber as well! I will check Lily Pebbles and Ghostparties asap.)

This is a great post! I like the idea of keeping little rituals going, although I don't actually have that many... My daily ritual during the working week would be to find an hour in the middle of the day for yoga, definitely keeping me sane at the moment! I also try to try a new recipe at least once per weekend and I have pancakes for breakfast on a Sunday...

I love rituals, I'm a bit OCD about keeping them going! Every night, after I've finished studying I like to browse blogs/tumblr/pinterest while having a snack. And saturday morning is instant-noodles for breakfast, haha.

This is such a lovely little post! And I'm very impressed you've kept up a New Year's Resolution to nearly half way through the year! X

I love this post! Seems to be inspiring a few too... including myself! I used to have a 'face mask Sunday' ritual, I used to double it up with a hair mask too & it was my perfect lazy Sunday bathtime evening. But this year I don't have a bath, therefore this ritual is null & void. SOB.

I love the idea of snacks and nibbles on a weekend! It's funny how some rituals just become habit, rather than purposely choosing to do them.
I have spells of watching Youtube videos too! xxx

I have the same Saturday morning ritual! I think that's the only one...

I love this idea and your rituals. I always have a cup of tea when I wake up and read blogs or a book, that's a must. I'm struggling to think of other things, although I know I have lots of other rituals!

these are some good, realistic and welcoming rituals you know. you need these to feel sane i reckon, in a way. i try go to the gym twice a week, when i do i always have fruit for breakfast and get in there for 9:30 (on my days off). Friday night I head to my mate's for takeaway, beers and watching some wrestling or something like that (reminding us of being younger I guess).

Bloggings in there somewhere but no set days really.

I'm a creature of habit too - Sunday evenings are my blog reading time, combined with the #lblogger chat and a good film :) x

Human beings by nature are ritualistic. We like to follow a defined order. I definitely like to pamper myself on the weekends as well :) I typically paint my nails while watching an American football game since I have 3 hours to sit there :)
