Dog Days of Summer

dress - french connections courtesy shopstyle, scarf - liberty for tk maxx, shoes - schuh

Alas the time has come to think transitional dressing. When given the opportunity to try out ShopStyle and pick something out, my first thought was for something I could wear now while the sun shines, but would also work for autumn and winter as they roll around. This dress fits the bill perfectly - it's an easy soft summer dress from French Connection, but the jersey fabric and breton stripes means I can see myself adding a jacket and black opaques as soon as it gets chilly.

ShopStyle is basically a website which brings together pretty much every online fashion website all in one place so you can search everything at once. I am the sort of person who gets really overwhelmed by too much choice, but I'm also the sort of person who is super picky about what I like, and in that way the website is just perfect. I wish I had known about it when I was buying my bridesmaid's dress for my friend Kate's wedding, as I spent so long searching for a green dress, and shop style would have shown me every green dress on the internet in one place so quickly!

I also found is helpful as when I zeroed in on this dress, I discovered it was out of stock on the first website I clicked through to. Not an issue though, as by searching for the name of the dress shopstyle brought up every department store that was also selling the same dress, so I could find one with my size.

That dress is so perfect, I've been looking for a striped one like that! Love how you've paired it with pops of red.

I love that dress; it's perfect and looks like the sort of dress you could wear in several seasons and for years to come.

I have the same dilemma when clothes shopping; I'm also super picky AND easily frustrated when there are too many choices. I often wish a store existed that would only carry styles that appealed to me (I mean one that wasn't super expensive, because there are definitely brands out there of which I love everything...I just can't afford them...yet.) I feel like whenever I need a dress for something specific (like a wedding as you mentioned) I spend days, weeks or months even, weeding through way too many options that are totally not right for me. Here we have department stores with free personal shopping services, but the problem with that is you are relying on someone else's taste, even if you try to be really specific about what you're looking for, and as I mentioned...I'm super picky. It's a curse. Haha.

The hardest thing for us between seasons is the dreaded jacket panic. Is it too light, too heavy, the shape isn't right, ARGH!

Lovely dress!

You look great, I love your scarf I tried doing this myself yesterday and I felt stupid- how do you make it look so cool?!
Shop style seems my sort of site, I hate comparing products from all over the place x

Ooh, very continental - I love the shoes in particular. I'm sad about transitional dressing - trying to wear sandals and skirts for as long as I can!

What a fabulous dress, but, the shoes, oh my! The shoes! I love them. They remind me of a pair I had when I was younger - in the best possible way!
