A Picture of the Week

I always end up taking a few random photos each week, and then not getting around to fitting them into a post. I've therefore decided to alternate my lazy sunday links posts with a photo of the week or two.

This week honestly felt like the longest in the world! I can't believe it's still only my first week back at work after Christmas. Our bedroom has curtains and blinds so it is really dark, to the point where I would wake up during the holidays with absolutely no idea if it was the middle of the night or the middle of the afternoon. More often that not it was verging on the latter, so going back to getting up early has been tough.

I made it through to the weekend though, thank goodness, and it was nice to see everyone at work as I have some truly excellent work colleagues. I even managed to get up at 6am on Thursday and go for a run. It was dark and cold and windy and I was definitely not at my est, but I was glad I got it done.

I am trying to have a bit of a January reset. No spending money, no eating bad food (or Christmas holiday sized portions!), exercising and no alcohol. When I put it like that it sounds like no fun at all, but it actually hasn't been that bad! I got a head start on meal planning at the end of last week, so I had plenty of healthy interesting meals to eat, and James wisely purchased exciting 'grown up' soft drinks so I didn't even miss my Friday night glass of wine too much when replaced with sparkling elderflower cordial.

On Saturday I signed up to the local library (I moved boroughs so my old library card is now defunct) so I can borrow books and dvds and have some fun cheap nights in, and I have a post coming up tomorrow about cheap days out in London as well. Stay tuned for that!

This is the picture of my Sunday, an my goodness I know how you feel.

We're not going quite as far as you guys on the being good front, but we're back to only drinking on Friday and Saturday nights- no more Weak Willed Wednesday Wine. And we're also on the cordial trail to try and ease us away from the lure of the wine rack mid week. Meal planning I've begun to find oddly fun- is this a sign of ageing?

Happy Weekend.

I was back at work on the 2nd - so this week wasn't as tough as anticipated, but it was still rubbish to be back! I take random photos occasionally too, maybe i should take a leaf out of your book and share them from time to time too!

I guess I didn't have the old going back to work problem as I work from home but it was tricky getting back into the swing of things.

Joining the library sounds good, is it a free service these days?

I was back on 2nd so I was feeling a little bit smug last week! ;) Love this little feature, I definitely need to dig out my library card again!

I went for my first run of the year on Sunday, it was -2 but it felt great to get back out there.
I'm trying a similar thing for January, healthy eating and no alcohol. It's not as bad as I thought.
I'll be very interested to read your cheap days out in London post :)
