I was invited to spend the day at Westfield this weekend, and in particular to sample the food and dining there, as they currently have a food festival on, with loads of offers and free tastings on at both the London and Stratford centres.
I went to the Stratford Westfield, as it is the closest to my house, and I still get a thrill of looking out of the viewing gallery over the Olympic park! James and I browsed the menus of pretty much every restaurant in there, and finally settled on Pizzaluxe. James is something of a pizza connoisseur so it had a lot of expectations to live up to, but it definitely hit the mark.
If you are looking for good honest home made pizza then this is the place to go. The menu is relatively small - I had the four cheeses, and James the Porco - topped with bacon and sausage meat - but so perfectly formed. They are all cooked one size (12 inches) which is more than enough, and served in slices on a long board. The base is just the lightest, thinnest crispiest thing I have ever tasted, but even so it was seriously filling. The mozzarella is to die for. So good.
I loved the industrial canteen style decor as well, lots of exposed steel pipes and wood and metal and the staff were really friendly and welcoming. They have a large outside space too, and I can just imagine this is such a great place to eat with friends when the sun is shining. I will have to make a date for another trip in a few months!
