left to right: Nars orgasm blush, Clinique take the day off cleansing balm, Seventeen stay time concealer in fair, Max Factor nailfinity nail varnish in angel nails, Rimmel match perfection foundation in ivory, Bobbi Brown blush brush
It's been a while since I have done a makeup post, mainly because most of my makeup is still packed away until we get our spare bedroom sorted, where I will finally have a dressing table and space to spread out my makeup and jewellery. So mostly I've just been using my everyday makeup and little else.
I have picked up a few new bits as things have run out lately though, or to supplement my collection, so I thought I'd do a bit of a run down
Nars orgasm blush and Bobbi Brown blush brush
These sort of go together as although I picked up the blush a while back (it is such a pretty colour) until recently I didn't have a brush to use with it. Bit of a fail there! I do have a Real Techniques blush brush from the core collection, but as I tend to use that primarily for concealer, I didn't exactly want to cover it with pink blush and get the colours all mixed up and all over my face! I had a few pennies left on a debenhams voucher after the lingerie event last week so I splashed out on this amazing super soft Bobbi Brown brush. It's quite large, but picks up just the right amount of product, and is perfect for a novice like me.
Clinique take the day off cleansing balm
This was a birthday purchase a little while back, and as you can see from the photo its been well used since then. I usually remove my makeup using the Mac waterproof eye makeup remover and Simple cream cleanser, before using the balm as a second cleanse. It makes my skin feel super soft, and although not cheap at about £18, its a good budget alternative to more upmarket cleansing balms. When I get lazy and don't bother with a second cleanse I definitely notice my skin is not happy, so it is definitely doing good things for it!
Seventeen stay time concealer in fair and Rimmel match perfection foundation in ivory
This foundation I got a while back in a goody bag. I always felt it was a bit too dark for me despite this being the lightest shade they made at the time, so never really used it, but I tried again recently and fell in love. It is still a bit dark, but I blend it obsessively and don't use very much and I think it looks ok. The formula is amazing - it goes on so smoothly for a highstreet foundation, and I recently found out they have started making a paler shade, so I will definitely be picking that up when I run out of this one.The concealer I tried as I read good things on a few blogs. I like it, but it definitely isn't as full coverage as the Collection one I used previously. If you are looking for something a bit lighter this is good, but I would probably go back to the Collection one next time for myself.
Max Factor nailfinity nail varnish in angel nails
When I unpacked my nail varnish collection when we moved into the new house I was distraught to find out that most of them had gone gunky and separated while they had been packed up. I think maybe they had been too cold, but a lot of them will probably need to be chucked unless I can find a way to get them back into their original condition. Any tips? This Max Factor shade wasn't one I'd used much (I think it was a present) but it was one of the few which survived, and it is very pretty! A really subtle glittery pink which makes a great everyday shade.
