Cast your mind back to the last time I posted about the saga of the fence and you will remember it looked like this:
What a difference a can of paint makes!
I had decided pretty much from the get go I wanted to paint the fences, as having three different fence panels was annoying me and I wanted to make it look more unified. It took a bit of guts to paint them all black, as I was a bit worried about what it would look like when it was all done, bust after endlessly pinning black walled gardens on pinterest I finally decided it was time to take the plunge.
We used Cuprinol 'Black Ash' from their Garden Shades range and a single coat on our three fence panels represents about 7.5 litres of paint. I bought one can of 5 litres and thought we'd get two coats out of that and be done in a day. I was very wrong!
We still need to do a second coat and fill in some of the nooks and crannies, but I absolutely love love love how it looks. It really brings the garden together and even though we haven't got any plants in there yet it already looks really clean and smart. I want to create a bit of an urban courtyard feel and I feel like it's well on the way. Still to do:
- Second coat of paint on fence
- Sweep floor
- throw out remaining rubbish
- move planters out of living room into garden(!)
- buy plants and soil
- plant stuff
- get rid of lamps
- tile over concrete
